During 2025-2026, the SEDS@UCF eboard began to expand the club's horizons to include other disciplines beyond engineering. One of these efforts was the [Plant The Moon challenge](https://plantthemoon.com/). SEDS@UCF hosted two teams during both the Fall 2025 semester and the Spring 2026 semester.

These teams designed and executed experiments on simulated martian and lunar regolith, with each of the teams and their experiments briefly described below.

Conducted experiments on weak-acid leaching of lunar highlands regolith to evaluate it's potential as a source of nutrients for plant irrigation.
